Commencal has expanded its META POWER SX 400 range with three new builds using DJI’s Avinox drive system. The additions broaden the choice around a platform introduced as a lighter, more agile alternative to long-travel e-MTBs with very large batteries.
The META POWER SX 400 combines a carbon frame with mixed wheel sizes, pairing a 29-inch front wheel with a 27.5-inch rear. Its suspension layout provides 165 mm of rear travel and is matched to a 170 mm fork. The Avinox M1 motor delivers up to 105 Nm of torque in normal operation, with a temporary boost mode raising output to 120 Nm, while energy comes from a compact 400 Wh battery.
Commencal’s new configurations use different suspension and drivetrain packages to cover a wider price and performance range. The update is significant beyond the individual models because it reflects a continuing split in premium e-bike design. Some manufacturers are prioritising maximum battery capacity and touring range, while others are combining powerful motors with smaller packs to reduce weight and preserve more conventional mountain-bike handling.
For SUV e-bike buyers, that trade-off is also relevant: high-output compact systems can make mixed-surface bikes more responsive, but riders who regularly cover long distances or carry luggage may still prefer larger batteries. The growing variety of Avinox-equipped models suggests that motor choice is becoming a central point of differentiation across the performance e-bike market.
