Gazelle has introduced two Curb commuter e-bikes priced just below £2,000, extending the Dutch manufacturer’s range into a more accessible part of the UK market.
The Curb C1 and Curb T9 share the same aluminium platform but take different approaches to transmission. The C1 uses a low-maintenance single-speed belt drive, while the T9 is equipped with a nine-speed Shimano derailleur system. Both are powered by Bosch’s new Hubline rear-hub motor, rated at 45 Nm of torque. Riders can select an automatic assistance setting or use Turbo mode, with power characteristics adjustable through Bosch’s eBike Flow app.
A 360 Wh battery is integrated into the down tube. Gazelle claims a maximum range of 58 miles under favourable conditions, while the supplied 2 A charger requires around 5.5 hours for a full charge.
Standard commuter equipment includes full-length mudguards, a rear-wheel lock, a kickstand and integrated lighting. A Supernova headlight is built into the swept-back handlebar, and the stem-mounted smartphone interface supports SP Connect and Quad Lock fittings. Front and rear racks remain optional rather than standard.
The Curb models have already received a Red Dot design award. Gazelle backs the frame and fork for ten years and the electrical system for two years. The launch is also an early sign that Bosch’s first hub-drive platform is moving beyond a single showcase model and into a broader range of European urban e-bikes.
