Kona has overhauled the top end of its Remote range, replacing the previous Shimano EP8 setup with Bosch’s Performance Line CX Gen5 motor and a removable 800 Wh PowerTube battery. The new Remote 160 and Remote X sit above the lighter Remote 160 CR and target riders who want full-power e-enduro capability with long-range touring reserves.
Both bikes are effectively two configurations of the same 6061 aluminium frame. The Remote 160 pairs a 170 mm fork with 160 mm of rear travel, while the Remote X steps up to 180 mm at both ends and runs a mullet wheel setup out of the box. A “match-or-mix” flip chip lets owners switch between full 29-inch wheels and a 27.5-inch rear, and Kona has approved travel changes in both directions — the 160 can be built up toward the X’s spec, and vice versa. Coil shocks are also supported.
The Bosch CX Gen5 unit delivers up to 120 Nm of torque and 750 watts of peak power, and an optional 250 Wh PowerMore range extender pushes total capacity to 1,050 Wh — firmly in SUV e-bike territory for battery size. Frame sizes run from S to XL.
Pricing starts at 6,999 euros for the Remote 160, with the Remote X at 7,499 euros. Both models are available now, giving Kona a much more competitive answer to the current wave of Bosch-powered e-enduros from European brands.
